The Best of Photojournalism 2005 - The National Press Photographers Association named Jim Gehrz, local Minneapolis photographer, Newspaper Photographer of the Year.

The Star Tribune has a nice gallery of his work. Beware of the navigation. I accidentally clicked the "close" link 3 or 4 times before making it through the entire thing. Nothing drives me more crazy than a navigation menu that shifts around based on image size. Grrr.

Yesssssss!

Flippin' sweet! Todd MacFarlane just announced a line of action figures based on characters from Napoleon Dynamite. Yesssssssss! (Thanks, Digg!)

Okay, back to the real reason why I'm posting this morning. I need to explain the lack of posts lately. The easy answer is that it's spring and the weather is finally nearing perfection. I'm restless and haven't felt much like sitting down to type up a post. That's my story.

Well, there is one more distraction that's been keeping me away. I can't stop watching Good Times! I've Netflixed all of the seasons on dvd and they've been pouring in over the past couple of weeks. I can't get enough.

Let's see...what else has been going on? Oh! Last night I had the honor of attending a pre-opening party at the Walker Art Center. It's an incredible building and I'm looking forward to spending a lot of time there. This weekend I'm going to a few concerts in their new theater and am anxious to hear how good the acoustics are.

One thing that I didn't realize it until last night is that I've been missing the Walker store. I was glad to see it open during the party. I picked up a copy of Write and Unite on dvd and a couple of Moleskine journals, the coolest being the new storyboard notebook. So cool!

Other than that, I'm just waiting anxiously for OS X Tiger to come out and trying to decide if I should upgrade right away or wait a couple of months to let it mature a little bit.

TROTSS - Wacom Bluetooth - Arcade Photos

Before TechTV was destroyed by G4TV, I was addicted to The Screen Savers and I've missed not having it around. I'm really excited that Leo Laporte launched a new podcast called The Revenge of The Screen Savers yesterday, complete with much of the old crew. The first show is available for download and is pretty good. I'm excited to hear what they have to offer over the next few weeks.

Gadgetry

Wacom announced a new Bluetooth tablet that's already available for sale in the US. I've been thinking about getting one, and having no cables is a huge selling point, but I'm not sure that I can justify the $250 price tag right now. I think I'll put this one on my wish list.

Arcade Photos

This guy's home arcade makes me want to scream with excitement.

Avery Write-On Tabs

After reading this and this about Avery Write-On Tabs the other night, I ran out to pick some up. I'm blown away by how useful they are. I plan on using them in my various Moleskine journals, but my main idea was to use them to make dividers for index cards.

Over the past couple of weeks I've started using index cards as a way keep track of problems, solutions, meeting notes, task lists, etc. I've been keeping them in piles on my desk, arranged by category. At lunch I picked up an index card filing box, put the Avery tabs to use, and now have everything neatly under control on my desk...for now.
