I watched more movies this weekend than I have in a long time. Last night my brother and I went to American Splendor. It was amazing. Saturday I saw All The Real Girls, which was beautiful and heartbreaking. On Friday it was Pool Hall Junkies. This was seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen, although I always enjoy seeing Walken.

I just put up nine miscellaneous Lomo shots that I took over the summer. Let me know what you think and if there are any problems with the Flash viewer.

This kind of shit makes me sick.

I just took what seemed like a smallish fishbowl full of change to the bank and put it in one of those automatic change counting robots. I thought I might get $30 or $40, but ended up leaving with $115!! Not bad for a year's worth of spare change.

The Interview Chain
How it Works
1. Leave a comment, saying you want to be interviewed.
2. I will respond by asking you five questions.
3. You'll update your website with my five questions and your five answers.
4. You'll include this explanation.
5. You'll ask other people five questions when they want to be interviewed.
Here's my interview, as performed by the non-Teletubby version of Lala.
1. What was your most memorable day job?
The most memorable job was my least favorite. I worked in a mailroom one summer. It was brutal. My favorite job was managing a used cd store.
2. If you had a superpower what would it be?
I've always wanted the Green Lantern's ring, but if I have to pick one superpower, I have to say flight.
3. Who would be your ideal dinner guest, living or dead, and what would you serve them?
Easy, my Grandpa Anderson and I'd serve steak and beer. He died when I was about 11. I am so curious about his life and his time in World War II. I was never old enough to know him too well, although I do have great memories of him.
4. Most life altering movie:
Beat Street. It got me into breakdancing (no laughing, I was 11) and helped me lose weight when I was young. I was a chubby kid. There are obviously lots of better movies and I have lots of favorites, but Beat Street was the most life altering.
5. Do you have a tattoo and if so, what is it?
No. I used to want one and sometimes I still do, but there is no way that I could commit to a design or placement for the rest of my life.

Last night I finally became part of the iPod revolution. I'm in the process of transferring a large portion of my cd collection into iTunes. I've come to realize that the cd drive on my old iMac is incredibly slow. It might be G5 iTime iPretty iSoon.

As a sometime musician and fan of music, I do not feel that the freewheeling trade of copyrighted music on services like Kazaa or Limewire is right. On the other hand, I am absolutely disgusted that the RIAA is making an example of a 12 year old girl.
I really don't understand what is motivating the intensity of this witch hunt. I hope to learn more on Friday night. TechTv is having a special called Music Wars at 7pm CST on the 12th.

Five years ago I was in a band that recorded an album. This was after my time as a serious musician. I was doing it just for fun. During the recording there was a messy situation that ended with my engagement breaking off, me quitting the band and my fianc? later marrying the singer, who I considered one of my best friends.
I still listen to the cd once in awhile, but it usually brings me back to that place and time, which wasn't good for me. I haven't played drums since and sometimes miss it. I still have the maple DW set that I played on the recording.
Today I found the band listed on a Coca-Cola New Music Award runner-up website. One of the mp3 files listed is one that I played drums on.
Here's a link to the mp3 file.

I never expect a government site to be attractive, but I found this one to be pretty cool.

When I got into computers it was because I was designing cd covers for bootleg recordings of concerts that I was HEAVILY involved in trading. I tried a couple of pc's at the time, but was not happy until I purchased a lime green iMac. It was true love. I soon had a second iMac and networked them together. I've since become a hardcore PC user and have used my iMac mainly for testing websites and screwing around with OS X.
This weekend I made the switch once again. I bought a G4 tower and could not be happier. I stressed out for a couple weeks while deciding if I should buy a G5, but just couldn't justify $2,400 to get back into the Mac game. My brother was a great influence and helped me decide that I'd be just as happy with a new G4 at less than half the cost of a G5. He was right.
I'm now installing software, ram and a second hard drive. My main concern is finding audio software that is equivalent to what I have been using on the PC. I'll write more about that later.

The power went out tonight just after I got home from work. Unfortunately, I was just logging into my Win2k machine at the time and it was not on my battery backup. It now won't boot into Windows.
The good news is that I had Redhat installed on a second hard drive and gave myself a quick lesson in mounting an NTFS drive from within Linux. That's something that I've always been intimidated by, but I guess necessity forced me to learn quickly and it really wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.

Most of you have gathered that I'm not much of a sports fan. I'll admit that I know almost nothing when it comes to the topic and NEVER watch or follow any of it. However, I do enter the weekly football pool at work each week to see if guessing will pay off. This week it did. I won $48 and all the sports fans are pissed at me.
Unrelated: I found Google's search by location today via CNET's Morning Dispatch.

Today I went to the local camera store and put my hands on a Canon EOS-300D / Digital Rebel. They let me take some pictures with it and I was most impressed with how fast the camera is. I want one so bad, but just can't do it now. It's $899 for the camera body, which is reasonable. The problem I have is trying to fit a lens, memory card and a spare battery into the equation. That $900 camera will turn into $1,500 faster than I can say "cheese". Since I don't really use a camera much durning the Winter, I think I'm going to save up and buy one this Spring if I still have the itch.

Here's a new wallpaper. I used a photo that I took of some graffiti in Uptown and Photoshop'd it. Hope someone else likes it...I do.

My photoblog has been bothering me lately.
First, I just noticed that the preview of my most recent picture has now doubled in size. Fortunately, my design is allows for that change. (Upon adding this entry, the photo size is now what it used to be.)
Second, I've noticed that textamerica is sometimes slow to dish out the image to my site, which causes what I'll call "load hang". I hate that.
Third, and most scary, there were a couple days last week that MY CELL PHONE NUMBER was part of the title of each picture. I almost passed out when I saw that! I'm fairly certain that textamerica has been experimenting with default titles on images and I'm glad to see they've dropped phone numbers from the list of possibilities.
On a related note, I'll soon be using MovableType to maintain a photo journal of my "higher quality" pictures. Don't hold me to this, but I'm shooting for sometime in early November to have this up and running.

Those of you that keep an eye on my photoblog have figured out that I signed up for Netflix last week. I could not be happier. I've already watched and sent back my first three dvd's (The Good Girl and Six Feet Under discs 1 & 2) and should have three more tomorrow. I'm so excited about all this that I've already got 81 movies in my queue.
I also love having the ability to reserve dvd's that are not yet released. It's going to help me keep track of everything that I want to see. Since I rarely go to movie theaters, I tend to forget about movies by the time they come out on dvd.
