One of my favorite things in the world is good graffiti. The Merit Printing building in Minneapolis has been home to one of the sickest murals that I've ever seen and last week it was being repainted. The new work is a little too political for my taste, but is nothing less than impressive.

On Saturday I went down there and took a bunch of pictures that I've put together in a panoramic as an interactive Flash movie. I'm not a Flash pro, so I was excited to get this working. Check it out and let me know what you think.

I suppose it's time for an update. Not much has been going on. I've just been geeking out pretty hardcore. I spent most of my four day weekend building a Flash mp3 player for a friend's website that I'm working on. I spent about 15 hours on it and learned so much. I'm going to modify it and put it up on this site in the near future.

I've also been playing with a table-less design of this site. I've pretty much got it figured out, but need to do some testing and optimization before I start converting all the pages. That will happen over the next month.

On a personal level, I haven't slept more than 3-4 hours in two days. The long weekend really f'd me up. I stayed up until 2 or 3 every night and now I can't fall asleep at my usual bedtime of midnight. I think I'm going to have to go for some Tylenol PM tonight.

Last, but not least, I Tivo'd Beat Street and watched it the other day. That brought me back. I used to rent it every week for months when I was in 5th or 6th grade and dream of becoming a professional breakdancer. I even used to take breakdance lessons from a guy named Natureboy, who had a small part in Prince's movie Purple Rain. I'll post a picture of him later when I get home if I'm awake long enough.

As promised, here's a couple photos of me and Nature Boy. Don't laugh.

I registered for my Fall classes today. I'm taking Software Design Models and Computer Security. I'm hoping it will be a little more laid back than last semester was. It starts on August 25th this year! What happened to the good old days of waiting until after Labor Day?

Matrix ping pong

Tired. Stressed. Trying to relax. Playing video games. Will be back on-line later this week.

I watched the documentary Comedian for the second time this weekend. If you like, or have an interest in stand-up comedy at all it is something you must see. It's so much more than just "that Seinfeld movie". Lots of great extras on the dvd too.

It's official! I now have my own photoblog, courtesy of TextAmerica. They have a really great FREE service that lets you update your photoblog via email. That means that I can update with nothing other than my cell phone. Tight!

Holy crap! I can't believe what I found over at Davezilla. Prepare yourself for the unbelievable Robo-Boy.

Cool! My photoblog made the editor's pick on the front page of Textamerica.com. I've been having so much fun customizing my template and finally using my camera-phone for something useful. I hope their service stays free, but it is certainly something I would pay for. Don't tell them that I said that.

I'm close to finishing the xhtml/css layout for this site. The face isn't going to change much, but the guts won't be so hate-able. Friday night I worked out the IE5/Win display problem without having to use Tantek's Box Model Hack. I have some more testing and clean up to do, but hope to convert the home page this weekend. After that, the interior pages will be converted as I have time.

Just thought I better check in again. I've been preoccupied with other things this week and getting ready to go to Los Angeles next week.

Wednesday, July 30th, 2003

Well, it's late Tuesday night and I'm getting ready to head out for a quick trip to LA. I still have some packing to do. Most of that packing is in the form of loading my laptop up with stuff that I'll "need" while away from home base.

This past Winter I got a lead on a web project for a guy that does picture framing. That never panned out, but today I got a surprise call from him. Turns out that he now works for a financial company that needs a site. I have to call them tomorrow and will probably end up writing a proposal while on the plane. Could be worse...

I'm just about off to the airport. Stay tuned to my photoblog for updates.
