tivolution
For the past couple of days I've been using my new cable box, which has a built in Tivo-like device. I can already feel my life being revolutionized. No longer am I a slave to America's Next Top Model. My only concern now is getting a quality audio/video switcher for my dvd, vcr and video games.
radiohead flash preview
I found a preview of the new Radiohead album that uses Flash. Here it is.
Sorry for my silence this week. I'm busy working on a site for a friend's band.
FREE FREE FREE!
First off, let me draw your attention to the free stuff section. I put up lots of stuff, so take your pick. I only have one of each item, so I'll take each item down as it's claimed.
The latest development around my way is the purchase of NBA Street Vol. 2. It's one of the best games I've ever played. I also picked up a nice M-Audio card for my new PC this weekend. I think that's the last computer purchase for awhile.
Only a little more than an hour until the new Radiohead album hits the shelves and I can't wait. I'll be making an early morning trip to pick that up.
istockphoto redesign
istockphoto has redesigned their site and they've done an incredible job. Maybe one day I'll grow up to be as cool as they are.
Juiceman Junior
A few years ago I had a juicer. I loved it until I lost it in the shuffle of a move. Today my love for fresh juice has been reborn. I picked up a Juiceman Junior at Target and then headed to Whole Foods to get some produce. I've got lots of juicin' to do, check it out...

Drive by shootings
Tonight I drove around the warehouse district and northeast shooting with my Lomo out the window. I feel safer that way. There are times that I wish I could get the nerve to walk the streets and take photos with people all around, but I get too self conscious. I'd also like to ask people to let me take their photo. I'm not sure how that would go over. I'd probably end up getting my ass kicked.
Tomorrow morning I am going downtown to try to get some shots of certain buildings...if I can get myself out of bed. It's after 10 and I still have to watch About Schmidt.
Side-note: I ran across a numb3rs.com yesterday. It's a pretty cool site by someone else in Minneapolis that I found on istockphoto. We have the same taste in photography and some of his shots are almost identical to photos that I have taken.
Photographic evidence
One of my photos can be seen in action on the Design Matters font page.
It's taking me awhile to settle into this Monday. I was all ready to make changes to my company's website, but the server has been bouncing all morning and I've done little more than surf the net. I think I'll head out to lunch and come back wearing my "it's time to really get some serious work done this afternoon" hat.
Green and clean
I've become obsessed with cleaning up the code on my site. You may notice some visual oddities over the next week or two. If you do, please let me know.
jazzradio.not
I'm not sure when it happened, but jazzradio.net is no longer free.
say cheese
I just got back from dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. I almost always go straight home from work and now I remember why. Traffic absolutely sucked and parking wasn't any better. I also feel bad that my mom bought my meal. I would be just as happy going to Subway and spending $4, renting a dvd and heading home. I used to be really into going to restaurants, especially when I've had girlfriends, but now I could care less about that whole scene.
We were seated next to a couple that was obviously on a first date. Here are the questions I heard during the course of the meal:
Date question #1: "How old are your parents?"
This one was brutal. The girl answered, "My mom died when she was 49 and my dad is 51." Whoops. I felt bad for the guy. There's not much you can do to recover from that one. There was an uncomfortable silence and then they moved on to...
Date question #2: "What kind of books do you like?"
Boring answers.
Date question #3: "What kind of movies do you like?"
More boring answers. I think the guy just said "mysteries" and she said "me too". I was imagining myself in that situation going off on a tangent about Herzog or Kurosawa. Perhaps this is one reason I have not dated for nearly two years.
Date question #4: "Are you a cleaning type of person?"
"I like to keep it neat, but I don't usually clean clean unless I'm having people over. I do iron every day and the other guys at work give me crap about it. It's a big joke at the bar to ask if I iron my underwear." I think he overshot that answer by one sentence.
That entire eavesdropping session pretty much killed any desire I have had recently to get back into the dating scene.
Not your ordinary STD
Want to run Linux and learn about security at the same time without having to install it or mess around with your hard drive? Grab Knoppix STD. It's a bootable KDE cd and is jam packed with security tools. Their site has been getting slammed, so I suggest you head on over to eMule. I've got it posted there and so do many others.
Honda Ad
I may have linked to this before, but I think it deserves another look.
Pain
Today I had planned on having a great day at work, coming home and finishing a MySQL administration application that I started working on this weekend. Instead I stayed home from work with one of the worst headaches that I have ever had. It woke me up around 6am like a giant thumb pressing on my left eye. My left shoulder then started feeling pinched and squeezed. I tried to sleep, but couldn't. I tried to eat, but couldn't. I was able to watch tv with a towel covering my left eye.
When I felt up to it I went to Target to get some Excedrin. My left eye was watering and I was hoping to just get back home without passing out. On the drive home I considered going to the emergency room, but decided I'd be better off at home fighting it out. It's 5pm and I'm still miserable.
The horror
We had tons of rain and no power for 6 hours last night. I had to use my Palm Pilot as an alarm clock. When I woke up there was a big tree laying across my street and my underground parking garage had about 5-6 inches of water in it. I had to put on old boots and wade through the water to get to my car this morning. The horror.
Today felt like a bad movie.
Somehow the back of my pants got soaked in the mess of rain water, old boots and changing into my "good shoes" in the car. I realized this just as I was walking into the clinic this morning. I knew I was there to talk about migraines, but I doubt it looked that way to anyone else. Today felt like a bad movie.
Spy Games
Woo hoo! I finally got a new cell phone...with a built-in camera! I got the Sanyo SCP-5300. The picture quality is only about as good as a web cam, but that's good enough for something that fits in my pocket. I'll post a couple pictures later when I'm home.

As promised...

Yes, that's my website on the screen.

I discovered a new band this week called The Sad Little Stars. Check out their site, click on the speaker and listen to the album. I didn't get through three songs before ordering it.

Tonight I found myself watching the entire Ellen special on HBO. I've never really gotten into her, but I thought her new act was pretty good.
