Dear Internet,
Happy 20th birthday!
Love,
Me

I'm so excited. I finally ordered and received my first C.H.I.M.P. I've wanted one for a long time and might get a couple more. Now I can finally listen to headphones while at my computer without constantly feeling like I'm going to be murdered by a stealthy stranger.

I think it's time to put my trash in the hall. I don't know why I let it get so bad.

A post by Meghan inspired me to start giving away some of the crap I have sitting around that I don't need. I'm not sure how often this will happen, but I hope to do it at least once every couple weeks or so. Keep checking back to see if you can get your hands on some of the sweet booty.
Here goes the first item: One copy of Kill the Moonlight by Spoon is up for grabs...and it's FREE! I'll send it via regular mail anywhere in the 48 states. All you have to do is be the first to contact me.

Meghan has claimed the Spoon cd. Don't fear, I am working on a slight overhaul of this site to include a section dedicated to giving away more stuff than I had previously planned on.
In other news: It is rumored that Apple will discontinue the 15 and 17-inch iMac with an upgrade coming sometime in the next year.

Okay, this year I am really going to try to make it to SXSW Interactive. I figure at most it will cost $1,500 for admission, airfare, hotel and food. I've wanted to go for the past few years and could really use a trip to someplace warm. Donations are welcome.

It's a big day! I've been blog-linked for the very first time. You'll find me in the "people i kind of know" section at irish-girl.com.

Apple has released a beta web browser of its own, called Safari. They claim standards compliance, fast HTML and Javascript performance, seamless downloads and death to pop-up ads.

It's been a big week so far. I've finished watching all 3 seasons of the Sopranos, I've purchased my textbooks and am ready to start school next Tuesday, I've got a great start on a few websites that I'm doing and my Amazon order just arrived.

In another post inspired by Meghan, I'm posting my fridge.

My fridge is now part of the web fridge project.

I've finally completed my collection of Ralph Peterson cd's with today's acquisition of "V", his first solo release. This album has long been out of print and I've bid over $30 for it several times on eBay, only to be outbid by more rabid fans. Last week I won an auction for this disc at only ONE CENT. I felt bad, so I sent the guy $5. I was stunned to receive the cd today not only still sealed, but in the original cardboard long box. I may be dating myself, but I actually remember when all cd's came in long box packaging. Opening the long box made me feel like I was 17 again.

I haven't been this into a rock album in a long time. I just can't stop listening to The Used cd. It's raw and brilliantly produced. Target had it for $9. I gave it a whirl. I love it.

Tried to get Audioslave tickets yesterday with no success. I thought I'd be smart and try to get them online the minute they went on sale. Turns out that wasn't a great idea. Ticketmaster's site was so slow that it was nearly not functioning. It took me 30 minutes to get the site to respond to my request for 2 tickets and by then they were sold out. Not happy. It would have been cool to see them at First Ave.
In other news, I got a Sam's Club membership today. They have great prices on dvd's and I ended up buying the Band of Brothers boxed set. I watched the first two episodes and am blown away. I'm only going to allow myself to watch two episodes each week so I can stretch it out a bit. I learned my lesson after watching all 36 Sopranos episodes on dvd within two weeks.

Today I made a cool little web app' with sql and asp for our tech support guys and myself to use. Until now we have not been tracking support calls or issues in any way. My boss saw it for a minute while I was working on it and was pretty blown away. She's been considering spending thousands on a boxed product to do essentially the same thing. Whether it scores me points with her or not, I had a fun time making it and learned a few things. I actually can't wait to get to work tomorrow to tweak it a bit more.

My site got taken down by the Sapphire Worm and was down most of the day. "This worm has been dubbed the Sapphire Worm by eEye due to the fact that several engineers had to be pulled away from local bars to begin the investigation/dissection process."

This evening I did some programming homework, grocery shopping and grabbed some food while the rest of the world was watching the Super Bowl. It was like Christmas day, but with open stores.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot...I also upgraded my iMac to 10.2, reworked a small bit of Javascript on my site to make the Safari browser happy, did some bug testing on the afore mentioned browser and replaced my wireless router. Whew! I better get to bed before I have to get ready for work.

I've been playing a new office game this week called Garbage Jenga.

A conversation with a friend of mine last week got me thinking about making the leap into .NET. There's a nice .NET article at Sitepoint that helped sort out a few of the questions that I had. I've also been wondering what the best development environment would be. For ASP.NET, Microsoft offers a free tool called Web Matrix. However, I've been thinking of pulling out the big guns and getting Visual Studio .NET. It's a thousand bucks(!), but as a student I can get it for only a hundred.

Today I customized the help desk app for my boss so she can look at the data from a few different ways. I knew that I scored huge points by doing this for her, so I took a chance and asked for the full version of Visual Studio .NET. Within about one minute I had the approval in my inbox and will be placing the order tomorrow. I can't wait.

I heard about this site a couple months ago and just visited for the first time. It's pretty cool.
